  OCT. Weekends OCT Weekends. SeaWorld Howl-O-Scream at SeaWorld San Antonio. SeaWorld transforms in a festive Halloween atmosphere! See pumpkins and funny skeletons throughout the park. SeaWorld also adds Halloween theme shows such as Shamu's Rockin Creep Show and Jack is Back! It's a great time to come out and enjoy SeaWorld and get into the spooky Halloween mood. (Every Thursday) Oct. 1st - Abbot & Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde. Oct. 8th - Creature From the Black Lagoon. Oct. 15th - Monster House. Oct. 22nd - Frankenstein. Oct. 29th - Jaws. Concessions will be available selling popcorn, soda and cotton candy. Lawnchairs, blankets, and picnic baskets are welcomed. Movie-goers can park for free at the Alamo Street Lot near the HemisFair Park and across from the Federal Courthouse at the Durango Street lots after 6:00 p.m. on a first-come basis. The free movies will be shown every Thursday in the grassy area under the park archway and the Magik Theater building at S. Alamo and Nueva.   OCT. 2,3,4 OCT 2,3,4. Fredericksburg's Oktoberfest at the Marktplatz (Market Square - 100 block of West Main Street) in Downtown Fredericksburg, TX. Oct. 2, Friday (6pm to 12 midnight) Oct. 3, Saturday (10:00am to 12 midnight) and Oct. 4, Sunday (11:00am to 6:00pm.) The sound of oompah and the aroma of sizzling bratwurst, once again herald the arrival of Oktoberfest. For three full days, the whole world is invited to sing, toast and dance at one of Fredericksburg's favorite festivals, celebrating its 29th Anniversary!   OCT. 7, 14, 21, 28 OCT 7,14,21,28. CHUCK WAGON DINNER SHOWS at the Enchanted Springs Ranch in Boerne, TX. Starts at 5pm! Meet cowboys and Woodrow, the longhorn steer. Stroll through town and experience a feeling of being transported back into the 1800’s.  Ride a tractor pulled wagon and see the Wild Animal Park which has longhorn cattle, zebras, reindeer, and many other exotics. Live western music will play throughout the night & while you are eating, you will enjoy a variety of entertainment, including our Arrest-a-Guest.  Come for an evening of fun and good eating. OCT 9, 2010. The Gruene Music & Wine Fest (Texas Tasting & Tunes) at Gruene Historic District. Oct. 9, Saturday at 12:00pm to 6:00pm. Enjoy tasting with more than 40 Texas vintners, craft vendors and food producers and enjoy tunes at the Wine Tent. Admission price includes a Gruene Music & Wine Fest souvenir wine glass and five wine taste tickets. Additional taste tickets will be available for purchase at the event. Products sampled will be available for purchase. Wine is available for purchase by the glass, bottle, and case as well as select beer and sodas. Artists from around Texas will gather in Fredericksburg's Marktplatz for a three-day celebration of the exquisite and attractive mesquite. This is free event to the public.   OCT. 15 - Nov. 1 OCT 15 - Nov 1. Dinosaur George's Ultimate Paleo - Adventure at 310 Chestnut Street, San Antonio, TX. Monday thru Friday 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Saturday and Sunday 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Dinosaur George’s Ultimate Paleo-Adventure is an exhibition of Dinosaurs, displayed in brilliant lighting, sound, and natural settings. It is a museum-like experience created to be educational, entertaining, and a show the entire family will enjoy. This museum will host over 25 complete life-sized skeletons and hundreds of skulls. Every year since 1961 St. Sophia has held its Greek FUNstival here in San Antonio. at 2504 N. St. Mary's St. at the corner of East Ashby. Enjoy Greek food, music and dancing!   OCT. 23 OCT 23, 2010. San Antonio Founders Day at the Alamo. Oct. 23, Saturday (10:00am to 4:30pm) Come enjoy a celebration of the founding of San Antonio! The 6th annual tribute to the many cultural groups who shaped the heritage of San Antonio. Opening ceremonies and musical tribute will include live music and singing featuring local orchestras and performers. The event continues at The Alamo and Alamo Plaza with live music and dancing; historical, cultural and educational displays from more than 40 organizations; and crafts and activities for children.   OCT. 24 OCT 24. Lone Star Indie Bash at the Brewery. A special free concert, and fans from across the state are invited to join the fun by celebrating their independent spirit and the Texas musicians they love. On Saturday, October 24 the “National Beer of Texas” will host the first Indie Bash at the Brewery in San Antonio at the Historic Lone Star Brewery.   OCT. 24,25 OCT 24,25.“Artesanos del Pueblo” Fall Artisans Show and Sale at Mission San Jose. Oct. 24 & 25, (10:00am to 4:00pm) Free admission and parking. A show and sale of traditional arts featuring artists and artisans from San Antonio and around Texas - photography, wood carving, ceramics, fabric art, paintings and handcrafted jewelry. Show also features unique, museum quality folk art form Central America, Mexico and Peru. American, Texan, Mexican, Honduran, and Guatemalan folk art will tempt even the most discriminating shopper. Proceeds benefit the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. National Park Service Rangers and docents will operate children’s Day of the Dead activity carts. All activities will take place in tents. Weavers, carvers, and a number of other artisans will demonstrate and sell their wares.
 
       
  OCT. 30 - NOV. 8 OCT 30 - NOV 8.Wurstfest at Landa Park, New Braunfels, TX. Wurstfest opens on weekdays at 5 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays at 11 am. Wurstfest closes at 12 Midnight on Thursday and Fridays, 10 pm Sunday through Wednesday, and 1 am on Saturdays and at 10 pm on the last Sunday. A unique celebration rich in German culture and full of Texas fun! During this 10-day salute to sausage, you’ll find a variety of entertainment options including a polka contest, games, rides, food and drinks on the Wurstfest Grounds in Landa Park as well as special events throughout New Braunfels and Comal County. Activities include trick-or-treating, face painting, rub on tattoos, costume contest, and games. Ticket prices for all visitors over the age of 2 are: $5.00 in advance. $6.00 at the gate.  
       
  OCT. 30 OCT 30, 2010. "Battle of Concepcion" at St. Peter-St. Joseph Children's Home across from Mission Concepcion. Saturday, October 31, 2009, from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM, The historical encampment, demonstrations and battle will take place across from Mission Concepción. Location 919 Mission Road. Admission is FREE.
